OUR INTERNAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM

Our positive feelings and negative emotions constitute our natural guidance system, by means of which we can always tell whether we are in or out of alignment with the Source of our being.

When our outer mind is aligned to our inner being, our consciousness is characterized by positive feelings of love, joy, enthusiasm, and gratitude, whereas when our outer mind is not aligned to our inner being, our consciousness is characterized by negative emotions of guilt, anger, fear, and grievance.

Whereas love is the positive feeling which validates the self, guilt is the negative judgmental emotion which invalidates the self.

Whereas joy is the positive feeling which validates the present, anger is the negative judgmental emotion which invalidates the present.

Whereas enthusiasm is the positive feeling which validates the future, fear is the negative judgmental emotion which invalidates the future.

Whereas gratitude is the positive feeling which validates the past, grievance is the negative judgmental emotion which invalidates the past.

And whereas the negative judgmental emotions constitute the means by which we unwittingly imprison ourselves in self-limitation, the positive feeling of forgiving love constitutes the means by which we can love ourselves free from our self-imposed mental prisons.

Thus, it is no exaggeration to say that life in this wondrous world of polarized illusion is essentially a process of first learning how to imprison ourselves with judgments and then learning how to liberate ourselves through forgiveness.
